The Water Supply and Sanitation Project for Belarus development objective is to improve the quality, efficiency and sustainability of water supply and wastewater treatment services in six participating Oblasts covering about 1.7 million consumers. There are three components to the project. The first component of the project is rehabilitation of water supply and sanitation systems. This component will finance investments in water supply and sanitation sector in the six Oblasts of Gomel, Mogilev, Brest, Grodno, Minsk, and Vitebsk. The second component of the project is support to the preparation and sustainability of investments. This component of the project is strives to strengthen the efficiency, governance, and sustainability of the service provision. The feasibility studies and detailed designs for sub-projects selected for funding by the ministry of housing and utilities (MHU) will be financed under this component. The third component of the project is project implementation and management. A project coordination team (PCT) will be established and this component will fund training of the PCT and auditing requirements. The staffing costs for the PCT will be financed by the government.
