Description
Description | The program is intended to help sustainably secure or improve the living conditions of the population in the two Bosnian cities of Tuzla and Zenica (FC program objective). The FC measure objective is to ensure a reliable and hygienically safe drinking water supply for the population in the program communities at cost-covering and socially acceptable prices. The investment measures required to achieve the objectives focus on the rehabilitation and expansion of the existing water supply systems. The utility companies are to be institutionally supported by an accompanying measure in order to ensure the financial and technical sustainability of the investments. The target group are the residents of the program communities connected to the central supply network and, through the accompanying measure, also the municipal utilities and municipal administrations responsible for the water supply. The total cost of the program is estimated at EUR 22.86 million. Half of the costs for the investments and for the implementation consultant will be financed through a low-interest loan of EUR 11.0 million and half through a grant from SECO of EUR 9.49 million. There will also be an accompanying measure of EUR 1.5 million. Following the flood disaster in Bosnia and Herzegovina in May 2014, the Swiss government, through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), is providing an additional financial contribution of EUR 2.375 million to rebuild damaged infrastructure of the water supply and sewage disposal systems as well as disaster prevention in the program cities of Tuzla and Zenica (flood measures). The funds will be pledged by KfW as a mandate and implemented as part of the existing project. |
