The Zarqa Water Supply Project for Jordan, include a) construction of 7 wells and related facilities at a site six kms north of Zarqa, b) a booster pumping station adjacent to the reservoir will force the water through a transmission main to distribution storage reservoirs at the edge of the city of Zarqa, c) increased storage capacity facilities, and d) major improvements and extensions of the City of Zarqa water distribution system will add 21 kms. of 6-8, and 10 inch diameter steel mains. The proposed investments to the City of Zarqa water supply system can be expected to produce significant benefits to the health of the community. These benefits will be due to the provision of a safe, uncontaminated water supply, a higher order of personal and general hygiene, and continued support the rapid increase in population and industrial growth of the City of Zarqa.
