Description

Description

This project will install a new sample line for chlorine outside the building on the header pipe and a new chlorine analyzer on the nearest wall to reduce the delay in obtaining readings of the chlorine concentration. Also, this project will allow the purchase and the installation of a new groundwater pump to replace an existing old pump (Pump #2). Our water plant (WP) pumps water to the distribution and the reservoir in a fill and drain cycle, allowing the water pumps to rest in between cycles. While the reservoir is off-line and isolated for repairs the water supply water will come from the WP pumps, running continuously. Should a pump shut down, the plant would switch to the second pump. During this period the Town would be relying on 2 groundwater supply wells at the water treatment plant. Pump #1 is new (2011); Pump #2 was installed in 1949. The most recent inspection said it is beyond repair.
