Watermain relining on Clairton Place

The project includes the relining of approximately 400 metres of water main along Clairton Place in the Community of Amherstview, as well as the replacement of valves and fire hydrants associated with the system. The water main for this section of the Amherstview drinking water system includes 150mm and 250mm cast iron pipes that were installed in 1967. These lines service approximately 30 households, several of which have complained about coloured water, indicating a need for this part of the system to be rehabilitated. This project is a local priority. The availability of the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund will allow for this project to proceed. Additional work included in this project: - required to relocate isolation valve from wet well to new valve chamber immediately adjacent to the wet well due to the restricted space in the existing wet well - added LED lights to the wet well and valve chamber - entrance hatch to the new valve chamber was a special order aluminum hatch for ease of ingress and egress - MBQ did not decommission the existing 100mm force main. It will be utilized as a bypass in the event repairs are required at the station. This required the addition of one (1) 100mm valve and one (1) 150mm valve.
