Description | The project involves developing robust waterway infrastructure in Assam and the Northeast, including key infrastructure projects along National Waterways 2 (Brahmaputra) and 16 (Barak). It includes construction of passenger vessels, terminal facilities, capacity-building initiatives, modern jetties with onshore facilities, a new building for the Regional Office of the Mercantile Marine Department, guest house and office space for ITAT, Water Metro services, a cruise terminal, a Regional Centre of Excellence in Dibrugarh, riverine lighthouses, fairway development, and procurement of cutter suction dredgers. The project aims to boost cargo and passenger movement, improve last-mile connectivity, promote economic growth, and align with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat. |
