Description
Description | "The WAVE Network is formal network NGO composed of 160 European women’s NGOs working in the field of combating violence against women and children (women's specialist services - WSS). The WAVE Network aims to promote and strengthen the human rights of women and children in general and to prevent violence against women and children in particular. WAVE's objectives and key activities are: Advocacy and lobbying activities for better legislation and implementation of existing legislation to effectively prevent and protect women (and children) from violence. This includes regular meetings with policymakers such as the Victims’ Rights Platform, the Council of Europe, GREVIO, the FEMM Committee and the EC Gender Task Force. Throughout all activities, WAVE members are proactively supported in their advocacy and campaigning efforts to positively promote women’s human rights. Capacity building activities are carried out in the form of trainings, working groups and good-practice exchanges for members to strengthen and develop their ability to support women survivors. These activities include two key trainings per year, three mutual learning events, two internal working groups meeting regularly, one Conference, one internal ""members only"" platform on the website and the WAVE Information Centre. Data-collection, research and dissemination activities raise awareness on VAWG and inform about the status of women’s support services and women’s rights in Europe. The WAVE Country Report as a biennual activity is at the forefront of this objective, since it collects data about women’s specialist services in the 46 WAVE member countries. WAVE shares information on VAWG on four social media channels, reaching in total around 18,000 - 21,500 people along with other dissemination activities. The WAVE Database is the only available public database on WSS. It is being regularly maintained and developed, containing over 1,550 verified entries of WSS in Europe." |
