It is funded by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board and executed by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited as the Special Purpose Vehicle. The project aims to reduce travel time between Kozhikode and Wayanad by 45 to 60 minutes and provide all-weather connectivity to the hill district. However, the project has faced a landslide disaster causing fatalities and raising safety and environmental concerns. |
