Wayra Wind Farm

The project envisages the construction and operation of a wind farm located in Marcona district, Ica region of Peru. Once completed, the project will feed 132 MW clean energy into the national grid. Enel is sponsoring the project through its subsidiary Enel Green Power Peru. On September 4th, 2017 construction works were initiated. The new wind facility comprises 42 wind turbines of over 3 MW each and will be able to generate around 600 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual consumption needs of over 480,000 Peruvian households, while avoiding the emission of nearly 288,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. Project is being developed on a BOO basis with a 20-year electricity supply contract signed with Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines. The Enel Group was awarded in 2016 the right to sign the energy supply contracts for Wayra I following the fourth public renewable energy tender launched by the Peruvian energy regulator OSINERGMIN, based on lowest tariff per unit of energy. Enel is building the farm with own resources. Total investment is estimated at $165 million.
