Description | The Wisconsin Public Service Commission approved a new rate structure requiring large data centers served by We Energies to cover the full cost of new power generation and fuel needed to power their facilities. This includes costs for new power plants, solar farms, and other generators to support data centers in eastern Wisconsin, including campuses in Port Washington and Mount Pleasant. The structure also requires data centers using more than 100 megawatts at peak demand to subscribe to enough generation capacity to meet their peak demand. However, existing customers will still bear transmission infrastructure costs, with projected payments of $63 million by 2027 and approaching $100 million by 2028. |
