Description | We Energies is proposing two new natural gas plants and multiple solar power projects to meet increasing electricity demand driven in part by data center growth in Southeast Wisconsin. The natural gas plants are planned for Kenosha and Walworth counties, with a total capacity of 1,671 megawatts. The solar projects will be built in several counties in Wisconsin and one in Michigan, including a solar site and battery storage facility in Waushara County. Data centers would pay 75% of the natural gas plants' costs and a portion of the solar projects' costs. Residential and business customers would pay the remaining costs. |
