Description
Description | The transnational project “Female Resistance in Germany and France against National Socialism” of the Haus der FrauenGeschichte (HdFG) Bonn, Germany, and the Lycée Polyvalent Lamarck in Albert, France, aims to examine the role of women in the resistance against National Socialism (both in France and Germany) and to raise public awareness of these hitherto neglected actors of European history. The target group of the project is primarily young people from the age of 15 and multipliers in the field of education, but also people of all ages in a broader sense. Together with the museum, an external expert as well as their teacher, the students of the Lycée Polyvalent Lamarck, will acquire new knowledge about female resistance (on a communal, national and transnational level) in their own research. All together we will make this knowledge accessible to a broader, especially younger public in a trilingual exhibition (German, French, English) in analogue and digital form. The innovative approach of the project consists in particular in its combination of different experiences and perspectives that complement and enrich each other: experienced museum´s staff, teachers, students, experts - working together in a transnational project in a creative and scientific way. A further aim of the project is to raise awareness and show the parallels and differences between the current female resistance against totalitarian regimes and the resistance against National Socialists. A more differentiated definition of the resistance may allow us to break the bias about gender and resistance, as most people think of militant forms of resistance which seems to be more typical for men. The French-German comparison is also intended to go beyond a purely national consideration of resistance and open up a European dimension that can inspire further research in other EU countries as well. The mulilingual digital exhibition and didactic material will be permanently available for everyone. |
