Description | The project involves the installation of a weighing bridge at the interstate barrier at Kandwal in Nurpur of Kangra district. Proposed in 2008, the Transport Department acquired private land for this purpose. The project aims to check the prescribed maximum weight limit of loaded public transport vehicles to prevent overloading, road damage, environmental pollution, and safety hazards. The Transport Department has earmarked Rs 2.50 crore for the project and handed over its execution to the Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation, Shimla. The corporation inspected the site in November 2025, and the department has applied for a no-objection certificate from the National Highways Authority of India. Installation will proceed once the NOC is obtained. |
