Description

Description

This project proposes 5 addt'l truck parking spaces at the Welcome Center in Augusta for a total of 53 spaces. The 5 addt'l truck parking spaces are to be developed to the east of the existing access road into the truck parking lot. The expansion area is generally flat with a steep drop-off on the north end of the proposed expansion footprint. The addt'l truck parking spaces will be 20 feet wide with 74-ft long bays, and a 30-degree parking angle in general with some variation to fit addt'l spaces. New 8"x30" type 2 curb and gutter will be constructed along the outer perimeter. The existing curb cut and access path for the power transmission easement will be impacted by the truck parking expansion footprint. A new concrete apron on drop curb is proposed to provide access to the easement area. A crosswalk will be installed at the north end and a new sidewalk to connect to the existing crosswalks to allow for safe crossings for the truck drivers to access the Welcome Center.
