Description | The project entails the construction of four solar power plants with cumulative capacity of 40MW in the Villages Bahera, Savkala, Block Dobhi and Amas. The project company is Welspun Energy Jharkhand Pvt Ltd. Sponsor is Welspun Energy. The project was allocated to Welspun as a part of the 100 MW solar power procurement initiative of the State of Bihar. The competitive bidding process was carried out by the state utility BIHAR STATE POWER HOLDING COMPANY LIMITED (BSPHCL). A total of 6 bidders offered 135MW of solar power but were allocated 100 MW based on the tariff submitted. The project company has entered into a 25-year PPA with BSPHCL. The total project cost is $36.6 million (INR 2.44 billion). Financing comprises a $27.5 million (INR 1.83 billion) 19-year term loan and $9.1 million (INR 610 million) equity. Lender is Union Bank of India.
