Description
Description | To further develop the West African Power System (WAPP), a transmission line with a total length of around 1360 km, including twelve substations, is to be built as part of the Côte d'Ivoire - Liberia - Sierra Leone - Guinea (CLSG) Power System Redevelopment Subprogram, connecting these four countries. The measure is one of the WAPP priority projects and integrates Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea into the regional network between Nigeria and Senegal. The German contribution focuses on a section in Liberia. The aim is to finance the construction of a new substation at the Yekepa site, which will complement three substations that have already been examined and financed by German Financial Cooperation (Monrovia, Buchanan, Mano; project no. 27171 / BMZ no. 201067198). The CLSG measure is being implemented in cooperation with the World Bank, the EIB and the AfDB. The total cost of the measure is estimated at around EUR 385 million in a first phase (masts, 1st line, substations) and a further EUR 59 million in a second phase (2nd line, upgrading of substations). The German side is to provide Liberia with an FC grant of EUR 59 million (EUR 10 million for the current measure + EUR 18 million increase, EUR 31 million for substations already inspected) to finance the first phase. The recipient of the German contribution is the Liberian state. |
