Information Irrigation And Waterways Directorate, Govt. of West Bengal has come up with West Bengal Major Irrigation And Flood Management Project with a ticket size of 2932 INR Crores. This project in Irrigation sub-sector involves Improvement of Irrigation Infrastructure [Canal And Structures] and Flood Management Works [Rivers And Embankments] The current status of the project is Tender Published and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project WBMIFMP will contribute to poverty reduction, economic growth and employment creation within the Project area. Improving the performance of irrigated agriculture and adopting a more rational management of hydraulic assets will increase the return on public investments in rural development and will reduce the annual burden on the public budget. The Project will also strengthen flood risk management and improve climate change resilience within the Project area.
