Description

Description	Following the BJP's victory in West Bengal, the Ministry of Railways plans to expedite land acquisition for several key stalled railway projects in the state. The ministry requires a total of 4,662 hectares of land for approved projects, with only 1,273 hectares acquired so far. At least 12 major projects have been delayed due to land acquisition issues, including the Sivok-Rangpo new line connecting Sikkim to the rail network. Additionally, four metro corridors totaling 52 km are under construction, with a 20-km stretch stalled due to land acquisition and utility shifting. The ministry will write to the new state government to expedite the process. Railway projects worth Rs 98,499 crore are ongoing in the state. The ministry also plans to expedite surveys and detailed project reports for 17 recently resumed projects and is executing 21 major projects passing through West Bengal, with surveys underway for 25 more projects.
