Description
Description | Provision of a sovereign loan of up to USD 19 million (EUR 17.1 million) to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to finance the construction of a new, modern, and efficient wastewater treatment plant in West Irbid to serve the wastewater networks being constructed under another EBRD-financed project, "West Irbid Wastewater Network Project". Collectively both projects will establish an improved and sustainable wastewater system in the area of West-Irbid, providing wastewater connections and services to the surrounding towns for the first time and replacing the current wastewater effluent storage practices from cesspools to an advanced wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with pre-treatment facilities; which will positively impact the livelihoods of the residents. Project will be co-financed by an investment grant of up to USD 8 million (EUR 7.2 million equivalent) from the UK government under EBRD's High Impact Partnership for Climate Action multi-donor fund ("HIPCA UK") and an investment grant of up to the USD equivalent of EUR 2.75 million from the European Union Neighbourhood Investment Platform ("EU NIP"). |
