West Rosemary Street Water Main Replacement

The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) is undertaking a project to replace a water main line on West Rosemary Street in Chapel Hill. The existing water main is over 80 years old and has required multiple repairs in recent years. The project involves replacing more than 3,500 feet of ductile iron pipe from the Carrboro town line to Chapel Hill's Columbia Street. The work will be done in phases, closing sections of the road for a few months at a time, with pedestrian traffic routed around the construction and vehicle traffic detoured. The project is expected to last approximately 18 months, starting in October 2025 and completing in spring 2027, barring unforeseen delays.
