The project is currently in the design phase and is considered shovel-ready. The estimated cost has been reduced to as low as $4.9 billion by cutting one of the four planned new stations and scaling back the expansion of a transfer point station. However, there is debate among Sound Transit Board members about the affordability and priority of this segment due to a $35 billion budget deficit. |
