The project involves restarting and modernizing a gasification facility in West Terre Haute, Indiana, to build one of the first plants in the U.S. that produces hydrogen and ammonia with less carbon intensity. It will implement Honeywell's carbon capture technology to capture and store nearly 1.65 million tons of CO2 annually underground. The facility aims to produce 500,000 metric tons of anhydrous ammonia fertilizer annually by 2028, reducing reliance on imported fertilizer and supporting American agriculture.
