Description

Description

Lendlease has completed its 45-storey West Tower at Melbourne Quarter, delivering 797 apartments in what has been described as Australia’s largest single build-to-rent tower. The $500-million project was in partnership with Daiwa House, which holds a majority equity stake in the scheme. The tower is opposite Southern Cross Station within the broader Melbourne Quarter precinct. The development includes a mix of furnished and unfurnished studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments aimed at long-term rental. The completion of West Tower marks the end of the Melbourne Quarter project, a 2.5ha urban regeneration site developed over more than a decade. The precinct comprises four office buildings, two residential towers, retail space and a network of public areas, and is home to more than 1800 residents and a daily workforce of about 12,000. More than half the site has been allocated to public open space, including the elevated Sky Park and new pedestrian links between Collins and Flinders streets. The tower was designed by Fender Katsalidis and includes a range of shared facilities such as co-working areas, fitness spaces and entertainment rooms. Amenities in the building include a rooftop terrace, private dining areas, bowling alley, cinema and golf simulator. Leasing has begun at West Tower, with several hundred residents already occupying the building.
