Description | West Virginia American Water is undertaking a project to identify and remove customer-owned lead service lines. The initiative started in November 2025 and will continue through 2026 for identification, with replacements planned for 2027. This effort complies with an EPA regulation requiring water providers to identify and replace lead or galvanized service lines downstream of lead on the customer's side of the meter. Customers will be notified a week in advance before work begins in their area, and replacements will be free of charge if lead lines are found. |
