Description

Description

Western Australia plans to set up an AUD-1.4-billion (USD 1bn/EUR 850m) clean energy fund to support grid infrastructure projects that will help connect more renewable energy capacity. The fund will finance projects including the Clean Energy Link (CEL) - East, which will expand the state grid and deliver more renewable energy to Perth and Western Australia's South West. This will complement the CEL - North infrastructure currently under construction to expand the northern section of the state's grid and unlock clean energy flows from the Mid West. CEL - North is due for completion in late 2027, and CEL - East is expected to be operational by the end of 2029. Together, these transmission lines will carry 3 GW of renewable energy capacity.
