Description
Description | Western Australia is set to receive a carve-out from the Albanese government's national domestic gas reservation policy. The federal government announced a 20% reservation policy aimed primarily at the east coast, while Western Australia has had a local 15% domestic reserve for decades. The state government has been assured that its existing 15% reservation will be sufficient for the new national scheme, and the two governments are working on a mechanism to allow the state's existing reservation to count towards the federal policy. This carve-out aims to prevent disruption to the Western Australian gas market, which operates differently from the east coast market. |
