Description | Western Australia has signed several power off-take deals through two state-owned companies to support the development of three onshore wind parks with a combined capacity of more than 1 GW. The projects include Zephyr Energy's 470-MW Parron Maam Marang Farm, a 130-MW project by a joint venture between Shell Energy and Foresight Group, and the 550-MW Marri Wind Farm developed by Alinta Energy. The Parron Maam Marang and Kondinin Wind Farms are expected to be operational by late 2028, while the Marri Wind Farm is scheduled for commissioning in 2029. These projects will provide electricity to over 800,000 homes annually and exceed the state's commitment to replace coal-fired power generation with wind energy. |
