Description | A large community solar park is planned in Aitoloakarnania, Greece, following a law that formally established the scheme. The plant is expected to have a capacity of 105 MW, making it the largest community plant in Greece and one of the largest in Europe. It will be developed on public land in Messolonghi, granted to the Region of Western Greece by the Ministry of Rural Development. Part of the project will be financed through the Western Greece Regional Operational Programme, which has allocated 25 million euros for this purpose. Upon completion, energy costs for beneficiaries are expected to fall by up to 62%, providing energy security for 147,000 farmers and citizens, covering the needs of 17,000 vulnerable households and indirectly affecting nearly 300,000 residents across twelve municipalities in the region. |
