Description

Description

Western Sydney International Airport, also known as Nancy-Bird Walton Airport, is preparing for its first passenger flights in October 2026. The airport has secured a 10-year retail operation deal with Lagardère AWPL to operate duty-free and travel-essentials stores across international and domestic precincts. The airport is a 24/7 greenfield gateway with a terminal designed by Cox Architecture and Zaha Hadid Architects, integrating international and domestic operations. Additionally, there are plans for an airport city around the airport, including office buildings, hotels, shops, offices, parking, transport, and other facilities, aiming for 24/7 usage and a new night-time economy. A draft master plan up to 2045 has been under public consultation, with final approval expected soon to guide development over the next 20 years.
