This project will provide much needed congestion relief to Ashford Dunwoody Road at I-285 and to Hammond Drive. Several large developments on the Hammond Drive corridor have recently opened or are in various stages of planning and construction. These developments will bring thousands of new workers and residents to the Perimeter area primarily via Ashford Dunwoody Road and Hammond Drive. Traffic projections indicate that the intersections of Hammond Drive with Perimeter Center Parkway and Ashford Dunwoody Road will operate at a Level of Service F. This grade separation project is expected to 1) reduce delays at these intersections by 25 to 70 percent (See Project Justification Report), 2)improve safety by eliminating a weaving problem on Ashford Dunwoody Road between I-285 and Hammond, and 3) provide a multi-use pathconnection between several large office building developments and the Dunwoody MARTA station.
