WHAT IF Films, a dynamic, emerging production company based in Bratislava, specialises in creating powerful stories for young audiences. Over the next two years, we will develop two international co-production film projects involving approximately 80 professionals from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Balkan. These collaborations are an example of our commitment to cross-border co-operation, bringing together a diverse range of talent to create meaningful, high quality and engaging films. Our first film project focuses on a coming-of-age comedy narrative that explores tolerance and perceptions of LGBTQ+ issues in Europe, promoting socio-cultural diversity, dialogue, and understanding. The second project is a coming-of-age crime story that focuses on social inclusion and individual moral values. Both projects contribute to the competitiveness of young, fresh European cinema with their original, intense character-driven stories and strong message in genre-specific formats. By working with a range of professionals from different countries, we not only enhance the quality and creativity of our productions, but also contribute to the mobility and professional development of these talents, regardless of their age, gender or background. This approach enriches the expertise of our teams and inspires new ways of storytelling, which ultimately increases the appeal and market potential of our films across Europe and beyond and strengthens our company's positioning as a creative film hub for ambitious ideas and thought-provoking films.
