Description | The project involves replacing the wooden bridge deck at Whieldon Road on the Trent & Mersey Canal as part of a major improvement of three miles of towpath. The existing bridge deck has reached the end of its serviceable life and needs full replacement to enhance accessibility and safety. The work includes a full closure of the towpath and bridge between Whieldon Road and the incinerator for approximately four weeks starting 11 August. This bridge replacement is part of a larger canal improvement project funded by Stoke City Council's £20 million Levelling Up partnership investment, which also includes clearing vegetation, resurfacing the towpath, and installing new solar lighting. |
