Description | The Centre has commissioned a demonstration network that distributes a secure, tamper-resistant Indian Standard Time (IST) signal using White Rabbit precision timing technology. The network aims to provide a single, indigenous, and highly accurate time source for critical sectors such as banking, stock markets, telecom networks, power grids, and transportation, reducing dependence on foreign satellite-based timing services like GPS. The project is part of the government's "One Nation, One Time" initiative and has been developed jointly by the department of consumer affairs, CSIR-national physical laboratory (CSIR-NPL), and ISRO. |
