Description

Description

The Town of Torbay offers some of the best hiking opportunities in the North East Avalon Region. The Town has a mix of iconic East Coast Trails and municipal trails for all to enjoy. Torbay Trails consist of Class A Compacted gravel that are rated Easy, hosting over 25 placemaking furniture that includes beaches, gazebos and bridge look-outs. There is an existing groomed trail along Whiteway’s Pond that leads to a developed day-use picnic area along the shoreline of whiteway’s Pond. The proposed addition, less than 1 KM, will extend the trail and create a trail-head or access point from the road, improving the ability to access the trail, offering a designated parking area and increase awareness of the recreational area by creating a visible trail access point for users to identify. All demographics will benefit from this addition and extension to the existing trail as the current trail does not have an access point and users must access from road side and across a small greenbelt area which creates much difficulty for strollers, wheelchairs and anyone with mobility restrictions.
