Limits: 200 feet easterly of San Jacinto Street to 500 feet easterly of Old Agency Road Length: Approximately 2.3 miles District: 3 Community: East Hemet The County of Riverside Transportation Department is proposing to resurface approximately 2.3 miles of Whittier Avenue from 200 feet easterly of San Jacinto Street to 500 feet easterly of Old Agency Road. Whittier Avenue is classified as a Secondary Highway in the County of Riverside’s General Plan. Whittier Avenue currently ranges from 20-66 feet wide with dike, rolled berm, and curb/gutter along various segments of the roadway. The proposed project will include removing the roadway (200 feet easterly of San Jacinto Street to Hemet Street) and pulverizing the roadway (Hemet Street to 500 feet easterly of Old Agency Road) followed by overlaying back with Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt (RHMA) over Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). The proposed project will also include: · Additional pulverize and overlay of dirt shoulder to maintain safe roadway widths · Construction of curb/gutter, dike, and some driveways · Reconstruction of non ADA compliant curb ramps, damaged concrete facilities (curb/gutter, sidewalk, cross gutter, spandrel), dike, berm, and some driveways · Placement of safety edge and shoulder backing · Utility adjustments · Striping of roadway, including pavement markers and reflectors · Salvage/removal and installation of new signs No additional right-of-way will be required to construct the proposed improvements. The project improvements will not be within the existing footprint of the roadway and will raise the existing roadway profile by 0.40 feet in the pulverize and overlay treatment areas.
