Description
Description | The aim of the project is to strengthen the Lebanese health sector in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and to prevent the virus from spreading further in Lebanon. This goal is to be achieved through training measures, additional specialist staff and equipment, as well as by covering treatment costs and financing information campaigns. The direct target group are both Lebanese and non-Lebanese patients and their relatives, as well as employees in the health sector. The measures are intended to support vulnerable people in particular (without health insurance and/or ability to cover treatment costs, residents of vulnerable communities with a high proportion of Syrian refugees, etc.). The project aims to strengthen the resilience of the target group in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and to facilitate their access to trustworthy information, necessary protective clothing, testing and treatment capacities. The recipient and project sponsor of the FC measure is the World Health Organization (WHO), which is implementing the project in close cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Key outputs WHO - Expansion of capacities in intensive care units in 10 public hospitals; - Establishment of upstream centers to expand testing capacities and treatment options for mild disease courses (aim to relieve the burden on hospitals); - Covering the treatment costs for at least 800 particularly vulnerable COVID-19 patients. UNICEF - Contribution to infection protection in households, communities and community isolation centers; - Supporting decentralized health stations in the treatment of COVID-19 cases, while at the same time ensuring the most basic health care (especially vaccinations, care for mothers and newborns); - Financing a nationwide information campaign |
