Wider and Deeper EU - WIDE wants to equip Polish teachers and trainers to become ambassadors of EU values by acquiring innovative skills, competence and knowledge about the European Union, the process of European integration, the European institutions and their functioning in shaping the long-term European policies and strategies that affect (and improve!) the life of European citizens. WIDE has a strong connotation of enlargement, in the spirit of a Union that will become deeper by widening to new countries and by welcoming new Europeans in joining the dream of Europen integration. A wider and deeper Europe that welcomes new Europeans to benefit from the EU values of freedom, equality and inclusion. The target groups are the Polish teachers and trainers (i.e. in schools and VET centres), to provede them with the knowledge and tools to pass the knowledge on the EU to their pupils. The operational reality of Poland is that there are not only Polish students, but also many newcomers, in particular Ukrainian students, learners and pupils. The Polish society is changing and evolving: there are 957,305 Ukrainians with temporary protection in the country as of November 2023 (EuroStat, November 2023). This is having a considerable impact on the Polish education and training system: by the end of the 2021/22 academic year, 182,245 Ukrainian children had enrolled in Polish schools. As of May 22, 2023, out of 181,770 students enrolled, 92,375 were also receiving free Polish language classes in parallel
