The Guardia Civil (GC) is a Spanish police corps with a military status and is part of the Spanish State Law Enforcement Agencies. As a law enforcement agency, the Spanish Constitution tasks the Guardia Civil the mission of “protecting the free exercise of rights and freedoms by citizens, ensuring their public safety”. The main objective of this proposal is to develop the technical works to provide direct connection from the current Integrated System of Operational Management of Guardia Civil (SIGO) and the current Investigations System of Guardia Civil (SINVES) for querying external databases –Interpol SLTD, SMV, iARMS, TDAWN, SV, and Notices and Nominal Data from their common Single Search Interfaces. The interconnection will provide more information and increase the efficiency of the agents while consulting. Guardia Civil agents won´t need an access to Interpol databases through different interfaces other than SIGO and SINVES in case they need to check data on persons, documents, vehicles and vessels. The Outputs can consist of: • Increasing the number of searches made to all relevant databases. • Having more databases available at the GC IT systems SIGO and SINVES. • Achieving more efficiency in searches, as GC agents won´t need to use another IT application to query such databases, as they will be available from SIGO and SINVES. SIGO and SINVES allow management of services, relevant facts for public security, investigations, as well as searches on different databases. Short term beneficiaries will be all GC units (public security, road traffic, maritime service, border control, organized crime and intelligence units, etc). There will be a positive implication for the security of Spain and the rest of the European Union, due to the strategic position of Spain as one of the external borders of the Schengen area. This is a project that falls into the roadmap for interoperability, as Interpol databases are important for the investigation tasks.
