“Wild Kat” is an action-comedy 2D animated series which will be produced entirely within the European Union by 3 studios in 3 different countries: Watch Next Media in France, Animato in Italy and Peekaboo in Spain. No work will be subcontracted outside of Europe. Developed with the support of Creative Europe Media, the series is commissioned by 4 leading European broadcasters in 3 different countries: M6 and Gulli in France, Super RTL in Germany and 3CAT in Spain. “Wild Kat” is a female-led aspirational series which aims to entertain kids and teens, girls and boys alike. It tells the story of three teenagers teaming up to track down criminal Werelings - people who can transform into super powered human-animal hybrids. Our main protagonist, Kat, is a Wereling herself, and she has to balance her secret missions with her daily life as a teenager in a new town. The series explores themes like tolerance, self-acceptance and trust. Budgeted at €8.5 million, “Wild Kat” is a premium show based on an universal concept and graphic style, blending the visual aesthetics of European, US and Japanese anime series. The distribution advance and the substantial investment of a private-equity firm, totalling over 1.2 million Euros all together, attest to the international potential of the series. The appointed sales agent, SUPERIGHTS, has a successful track record, with a catalogue of over 3,000 half-hours of children content sold worldwide. A B-to-B and a tailor-made B-to-C marketing strategy will be rolled out by the distributor and the producers as soon as the first episodes are delivered and airing.
