Description | The project involves thinning overgrown vegetation on a conserved property in Plateau Valley to mitigate wildfire risk, protect water infrastructure, and enhance wildlife habitat. The work includes thinning and masticating Gambel oak and juniper stands using a mosaic approach, creating a 300-foot-wide firebreak adjacent to a hydroelectric dam, and protecting other water infrastructure such as pipelines, the Vega Reservoir canal, the Molina Power Plant, and the Cottonwood Creek watershed. Approximately 25 acres will be treated annually through 2028. |
