Wildfire Picosatellite Constellation & UAVs Remote Sensing: Active fire mapping and management

Forest Fires are one of the main threatens of the Sudoe area. In this sense, FIRE-RS (WildFire Remote Sensing) aims at providing an innovative tool for early detection and fires management through new technologies to emergency agencies and coordination centres. FIRE-RS develops a platform, which provides real-time information, fire perimeters, GPS, infrared imagery and visual spectrum, risk assessment, information on maps at different scales and with details, action plans, etc. This platform is composed by several elements as such as earth sensors, satellites, local and remote earth station, mission control centre and UAV. A monitored demonstration of the system will be made in Portugal, France and Spain. This platform requires a specialized and multidisciplinary team with experience in remote monitoring through satellite (U.Porto), in multi-UAV platforms (CNRS) focused on data interpretation and decision making.
