The Willow Bunch Rink Project consists of replacing the operating plant with a more efficient unit that uses R-449. The reason for the plant upgrade is due to the phase out of Freon in December 2020 which is the medium being used by the current plant. There are two facilities that operate using freon and with this upgrade, they will be combined as one unit to save costs and amalgamate resources. This project will be a cost savings as well as comply with the phase out of freon use by eliminating the need for the product and replacing it with a more energy efficient and acceptable industry standard. This project meets the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream objective in regards to economic support of community infrastructures and community resilience by investing in the community’s facilities.
