Description | The project consists of the installation of 2 sets of commercial washers and dryers. Rationale: The facility operates a laundry that washes, dries and delivers resident bed linen, towels, and personal clothing. In addition, they have a contract to provide laundry services to the Hospital next door. The laundry operates 7 days per week. The equipment to be replaced is aged and subject to frequent breakdowns. It is essential for Infection Control to have increased capacity to launder soiled patient linens in direct support of patient care and infection control. The increased demand and current need to increase laundry capacity at this facility is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that is, at times, necessitating hand washing of patient linens. |
