The project involves redesigning the junction to create dedicated free flow lanes to allow drivers to travel freely between the M3 and A34 without using the roundabout. The roundabout will be redesigned into a dumbbell layout to increase capacity, improve safety, and make journey times more reliable. The M3 will be widened from two to four lanes between the south-facing roundabout slip roads and the new free-flow links with the A34. Subways will be built to create a continuous, segregated route for pedestrians and cyclists between the South Downs National Park and nearby towns. |
