Wind West offshore wind energy project

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston proposed the 'Wind West' megaproject to dramatically ramp up the province's offshore wind energy industry. The plan calls for construction of enough offshore wind turbines to supply 27% of Canada's total electricity demand, generating 40 gigawatts of electricity, which is eight times greater than current projects in licensing. The project aims to be built within the next 10 years with private and government funding, requiring significant federal support and a national-level consolidation of resources and industry development strategy. A cross-country cable would be needed to distribute electricity to other markets.
