Description | The Windcat Rotterdam is the first of six new hybrid Crew Support Offshore Vessels (CSOVs) launched by Dutch vessel firm Windcat for use in the offshore wind sector. It is a 120-person, hydrogen-powered support vessel that is 30% less CO2 consumptive than traditional CSOVs. The vessel was constructed at Ha Long Shipyard in Vietnam and developed in collaboration with Damen Shipyards Group, Windcat, and CMB.TECH. It features a 3D motion-compensated gangway and a 10-ton crane for offshore deployment of up to 30 days, enabling heavier platform lifts in rough sea conditions and reducing standby time due to weather changes. The hydrogen genset, storage, and fuel supply system are ready for integration once final approvals are in place, supporting future regulations for hydrogen use in medium-sized vessels. |
