This series will follow a young man, Dennis, 17 in his pursuit of understanding and accepting cancel culture at his new school in Britain. While embracing new ideas necessary for the global change, he’ll discover secrets he’s seen back home in Eastern Europe. He’ll act as a forerunner warning of a danger for our fragile democracy. We aim to develop 6 x 50 episodes as a European co production between two or more European countries. Writing will be helped by some of the protagonists themselves and an experienced Irish writer. The project has suddenly become even more topical with the latest geopolitical developments. The discovery of transatlantic KGB spies in leading US circles, including the president’s family re-opens the Cold war era narrative. Europe is faced with major challenges, squashed between the two major right-wing powers Russia and the USA. We’ll of course counter balance these heavy backdrop topics with enough personal relationships and humour and allow for some entertainment. The main character’s investigation is drawn from real life, based on what our protagonist is already experiencing. We will stand alongside and apply a semi documentary approach in order to keep the authenticity. We think that in these busy times oversaturated with information too difficult for most people to handle, it’s particularly important to stay close to the truth even if it requires a certain sacrifice. The project already caught the attention of the head of HBO central Europe. Apparently, the topic is relatively untouched. Our bigger mission is to stay on the right side of history in this very divided time of cancellations, fascist uprisings and extreme emotions. Trying to edit history by applying modern values can be a double-edged knife. Instead, learning from past mistakes in order to avoid them, is the call of civilisation.
