Wolf wind farm

The project involves the construction of the 84MW Wolf wind farm, located in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The project was awarded in October 2021 under the fifth bidding window of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers’ Programme (REIPPPP). The electricity produced by the wind farm will be sold to state-owned company Eskom through a 20-year PPA. The project was won by a consortium led by Red Rocket South Africa that also includes AIIM through its IDEAS Fund (part of Old Mutual Life Assurance Company), H1 Holdings, Jade-Sky Energy, and the non-profit company Red Rocket Opportunity Trust. The total value of the project is approx. $124 million and project finance funding was provided jointly by the mandated lead arrangers, Absa and Standard Bank. Financial close was achieved on 24 February, 2023. The project is scheduled for commissioning in March 2024.
