WIN-BIG project addresses the current lack or uneven knowledge on the role women play across Blue Economy (BuE) sectors and across EU regions. WIN-BIG project aims therefore to provide an accurate and widespread dataset on the gender status and women's role across BuE and in all 6 EU sea basins (Atlantic, Mediterranean, Baltic, North, Arctic and Black Sea), as well as determining the yet remaining skills gaps preventing women from entering or progressing in the blue career ladder. Extensive data mining and surveying in all EU sea basins regions complemented with previously learned best practices from traditional sectors and available country specific reports will provide an aggregated estimate to EU, as well as at a sea basin level, of the gender balance and capacity gaps in EU BuE. WIN-BIG will also leverage specific female and basin adapted capacity building focusing on 3 emergent sectors: blue bioeconomy, blue sports & sustainable tourism and marine renewable energies & robotics, by using adapted female and sea basin fitted learning labs, acceleration program and oriented mentor’s network, coupled with cross-basin networking & job events to multiply the desired effect. Finally, WIN-BIG will disseminate blue female role models while promoting women oriented BuE emergent sector’s content using innovative media formats making blue careers techier and more attractive for young girls and women professionals. This will culminate in a Roadmap for Capacity Building for Women in EU BuE that aims to lay down actions and best practices learned that can be transferable across countries and regions further contributing to raise awareness and develop women’s roles in BuE in EU. To do so, WIN-BIG has gathered an impressive consortium of 14 partners from 9 countries supported by a top-notch advisory board and an extended and beyond EU borders stakeholder’s network for increasing relevance and reach capacity of WIN BIG as well as promoting the project legacy and sustainability.
