Description

Description

WORTH (WOmen and Resistance 20th century) focuses on Resistance in XX century and its role for the democratic transition of countries involved, providing a European dimension and fostering an international culture of remembrance. It focuses specifically on the role of women and their different contributions to fight against regimes and oppression, in order to give a more gender balanced understanding of history. The contribution of women in Resistance is part of our historical heritage and at the basis of our European Citizenship, as it has been fundamental to shape our identity made of values, rights and freedom, despite the differences in scenarios and historical antecedents among the 5 participating countries (IT, SI, PT, PL, RO). Activities focus especially on younger generations, involving schools and youth centres through non-formal and gamified activities: workshops, debates, Urban Trekking, and Human Library events in each country. With Human Library method, youngsters becomes Readers, leafing through the pages of Living Books (ex-partisans, witnesses, victims’ relatives, experts), with face-to-face conversations which foster intergenerational dialogue. The goal is to stimulate reflection through innovative participatory and engaging techniques, which are complementary to the formal approach of history books. Small scale local events (as HL and Urban Trekking) will create a connection between participants, local historical events and European history; they will be mixed with international conferences and seminars which will bring together the experiences in the single countries, creating a space to reflect on what Resistance of Women means today. An open-source publication and the recording of video books in all the countries involved, collecting stories of women in Resistance, will preserve oral testimonies for future generations, while dissemination events will boost the adoption of non-formal education applied to EU Remembrance.
